White Elephant Cup is an extreme skiing competition with elements of orienteering in Ukraine. So far it's the most high altitude skiing race. The event takes place at the highest and severest mountain ridge of Ukraine — Chornohora. Participants will face the challenges in different classes, technical stages, motivating ascents, and inspiring descents.


Organizer: TURE TEAM

Classes: SKI TOUR, SKI-ALP, SKI TOUR light, and SPLITBOARD.
Venue: White Elephant Camp, the Carpathians, Ukraine.

White Elephant Cup belongs to #ACS.

Only persons who have reached the majority age (18 years old) can participate.

Persons aged 14 to 18 can join the race only accompanied by parents.

It’s a team competition with a mass start. A team consists of two participants and can be male, female or mixed. The total time on the track is scored. Competitions are held in four classes: SKI TOUR , SKI TOUR light, SPLITBOARD, and SKI-ALP.

finish

FINISH of a team is the finish of the last participant of a team. At the finish the distance between teammates should not exceed 50 m (roughly). Finish is determined from the last participant of a team (precisely at the moment when the last participant of a team touches the finish mark by the hand). Organizers will show the mark in advance.

Requirements for ski equipment

It is allowed to use any combination of touring or alpine skis with metal edges. Participation on split boards is also possible. Use of cross-country skis is prohibited. Please, check out the MANDATORY EQUIPMENT LIST.

Winners (I, II, and III places in each class) will receive valuable prizes. 
All participants of the competition will be provided with a free Carpathian sauna from White Elephant Camp after an exhausting race. The pre-registered participants will get a stylish souvenir from the organizers.

important! If a team doesn't manage to reach defined checkpoint before the time limit, it is denied access to highland area.

Highland area access can be closed any moment at the discretion of the organizers due to weather conditions, and physical or emotional status of the team.

class SKI TOUR


Class recommended for trained and experienced participants or beginners in excellent physical form and with high athletic ambitions. Requires skiing experience, knowledge and skills to stay safely in a high altitude zone in winter. It is designed for one day and provides access to a high mountain area of the Chornohora ridge. The nature of the route can be defined as ski touring with elements of freeriding.

The length of the route is ~30 km.

class SKI TOUR light


novelty! For those who want to try ski touring.

A class where beginners can participate. Requires basic skills and knowledge of winter mountains, as well as proper equipment. It is designed for one day and does not provide access to a high mountain area of the Chornohora mountan ridge. Route is of a ski touring nature.

The length of the route is ~24 km.

novelty! At the request of boys and girls who love sometimes disassemble their board into two parts. :-) The nature of the route is the ascent to and from the Smotrych Mountain (1898 m).

The length of the route is ~13 km.

class SKI-ALP


Class for advanced skiers. It consists of two stages, requires special knowledge, skills and an avalanche set. It is designed for two days and includes ascents to the high mountain area of the Chornohora ridge. The route combines ski touring and freeriding elements.

The length of the route is ~30 km.

Uphill route
White Elephant Camp — Kosaryshche-Stepanskyi mountain ridge — Chufrova mountain meadow — Mt. Menchul (1998 m) — descent to the highland valley of the Dzembronia River — Checkpoint "SIDLO" (Saddle) — Chornohora ridge (saddle with Mt. Smotrych) — Mt. Pip Ivan of Chornohora (2028 m)| ~ 20 км

Downhill route
Mt. Pip Ivan of Chornohora (2028 m) — Chornohora ridge (saddle with Mt. Smotrych) — Mt. Smotrych — descent via northern-eastern slopes of the mountain to waterfalls and continue the way along a path from Mt. Vukhatyi Kamin — Under Smotrych mountain meadow — Upper Dzembronia village | ~ 10 km

* Under favorable weather and snow conditions it is possible to complicate (make it more interesting) the way down from the Mt. Pip Ivan of Chornohora.

The nature of Stage II is a vertical run to Mt. Smotrych (1898 m) and a freeride descent with technical stages along the route.
The length of the route is ~13 km.

Downhill route

To register, you need to fill in the APPLICATION FORM and pay an entry fee.

Entry fee is not refundable regardless of reasons, except for the cancellation of the event by organizers themselves and due to participant’s medical condition confirmed by a doctor's certificate
before the competition starts.

Organizers cannot guarantee providing necessary equipment rental to those participants who register on spot.
All participants of the competition will be provided with a free Carpathian sauna from White Elephant Camp after an exhausting race. The pre-registered participants will get a stylish souvenir from the organizers.

Ski touring races take place at the base of White Elephant Camp located on the bank of the Black Cheremosh River. You can arrive beforehand or on the starting day, stay in bungalow, hostel or a cottage. We offer amenities, sauna, and self-catering kitchen. Also you can order delicious dishes.

ACCOMMODATION
You can book hostel, bungalow or cottage.  

MEAL

We have a properly equipped kitchen where guests are welcome to cook themselves and have their meal in a cozy dining-room with a fireplace. Also you can order breakfast, lunch and dinner at our camp.
